18 - Chaduranga Chikki Silk Saree (w. Zari)

Rs. 34,500.00

“Chathuranga”, in Sanskrit, roughly translates to “four limbs”, which refers to the ancient army divisions of infantry, cavalry, elephantry, and chariotry in a game known to be the ancestor of chess. The Chaduranga Chikki saree is considered to be the pinnacle of Ilkal weaving. The design is said to have been inspired by the game of dice played between the Pandavas and Kauravas in the great Indian epic of Mahabharata. Today, there are but a few weavers who can create an authentic Chaduranga Chikki. The hard work put in by the skilled weaver over two weeks per saree is clearly seen in the exquisiteness of each of them.

Woven on handloom (pitloom) and made of 100% mulberry silk, this saree sports a Pharaspet border and quintessential tope teni pallu. An exquisite single piece that we wove, this comes with pure zari on the tope teni portion of the pallu making this a smashing saree to own.
