Kasuti Fuchsia Ambari Silk 12x12 Cushion Cover

Rs. 2,450.00

Of grandeur. Of glory. Of magnificence. Our 12x12 cushion covers in tones of red, fuchsia and natural have the ‘Aane Ambari’ or the traditional elephant motif, of a time when elephant processions were done as part of the Dussehra celebrations, hand embroidered on it. Historically, the motifs of Kasuti embroidery represent everything the artist observed around them, which was then reinterpreted into geometrical forms and fashioned on garments. This motif is formed using Gavanti and Murgi stitches of Kasuti and is reversible, meaning that both sides of the fabric look identical. KaleNele works with a group of women who are based in Dharwad and who come from distressed lives and backgrounds. We train them through a NGO called RAPID, so that it can help them have a livelihood. Each purchase goes a long way in supporting our mission.

This panel is attached to plain pure mulberry silk fabric handwoven in clusters that weave our Ilkal sarees. The design is uplifted by the use of Khunn fabrics in pure mulberry silk that bring their own story. This cushion cover boasts of beautiful Khunn motifs of the ‘Teru’ or ‘chariot’ that one would see in temple festivals, a chariot carrying the Lord being celebrated. Some bear the Sooji mallige, or the Aane Hejje (elepant footprint). We take so much pleasure in introducing our latest, most exclusive collection of silk cushion covers that derive their beauty and essence from age-old hand weaving and embroidery art forms. These are not mere cushion covers but each one is a piece of art, a conversation starter, the pride of the land we come from. Each one tells a story from its birth to its maturity as a perfectly finished thing of beauty. Each has soul.
